story behind loved
kate knysh
there is a feeling when you hold a baby or when you hug a child. it is pure, yet powerful.
several years ago in a multimedia painting class, i grabbed a large empty coffee can from the shelf, a smaller container and a charcoal stick and i started drawing this image of two interlocking circles - one big and one small. i had just come from a friend’s house where i had held her newborn baby and that pure and powerful feeling of a child’s love somehow played through the charcoal stick in my hand and onto the blank, watercolor paper in front of me.
it became a symbol for me of pure love. i later wrote a book, loved, based off of this drawing and dedicated to my own two children, Mia and Roman.
after drawing these big and little circles for my book, i started seeing this loved symbol in my every day. i photograph it whenever i see it and share those moments with the ones i love.
i am sure that you will see some in your every day too. i hope that they will also make you smile and that you can share them with the ones you love.
it is a simple reminder of the great value in all of the moments that we share with the little (and big) ones in our lives.
